Fred was elected to the Connecticut State Senate and represented the 33rd district. This District comprised twelve towns and cities stretching from Long Island Sound, along the Connecticut river valley to Hartford. While in the Senate he served as chairperson of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee and the Executive Nominations Committee. He also was a member of the Environment, Education, and Appropriations Committees.
Fred wrote, sponsored and worked to ensure passage of landmark legislation in Connecticut. He received numerous awards while serving in the Senate, including the “Legislator of the Year” award from the Connecticut Psychiatric Society and the Easter Seal, “Distinguished Citizen” award. Fred has been involved in town public service having served on various boards and commissions and served as the town Treasurer of Clinton, CT.
In 1986, he founded the government relations firm of Knous Associates, representing numerous clients: corporations, coalitions and various professional and trade associations.
He joined Evans & Associates in 1996 and has responsibility for strategic planning and company service.
